Chapter 17 - HIBI

The relationship between Sun and Yuna was a work in progress. Just like everything else in life, it required time. Yuna wasn’t particularly good at socializing and Sun was on the same boat. Although they weren’t the best of friends, Yuna could still feel that their friendship was at the budding stage. If she kept at it, eventually Sun would have to give in.

Yuna spent most of her evenings leisurely reading books about various subjects. Sun didn’t have much to do, so she spent her evenings watching Yuna read. It was extremely boring, and she couldn’t stand sitting in the same position for hours on end.

In the end, Sun chose to grab a book for herself. She began reading about plants and grew interested in the book. Yuna noticed that Sun was reading about plants that could be used for medicine. She hadn’t had the chance to read much about plants. Yuna found herself scooting over to Sun and reading the same pages that she was reading.

After a good 30 minutes of reading the book together, Sun finally realized that someone was breathing over her neck. She turned around

and saw that Yuna was reading the same book. She instantly shut the book and turned away. Yuna admitted, “Hey, I was reading it too. Let’s read it together.”

Sun gave in after remembering what position she was in. She couldn’t refuse her master. It would be uncalled for if a slave disobeyed their master. She replied, “If you would like, I can hand over the book. I’m sorry for reading books when I shouldn’t be.” Yuna instantly responded with an unexpected answer, “I wasn’t getting mad at you for reading. I just wanted to read together. Can we?”

Sun nodded, “Ok.” They sat next to each other reading about plants. Yuna would often point out plants in the book that were useful for a different assortment of medicines. Sun gradually began to believe that Yuna was a genius that was never before seen in the world. Yuna was able to recall sentences word for word and she had a vast knowledge of information that Sun couldn’t keep up with.

Sun secretly respected Yuna for her intelligence. Yuna kept surprising her with abilities that were uncommon for a little kid. Sun didn’t know the exact age of Yuna, but she knew for sure that Yuna wasn’t at the age to be so knowledgeable about plants and medicine.

As time flew by, Sun and Yuna grew close as friends. It was only a matter of time before Sun could accept Yuna as a sister. Yuna’s parents were also proud of their daughter for being able to get Sun out of her shell. Her parents were worried about how Yuna was treating Sun. It was almost as if they had gained another daughter.

At first, they were reluctant about adopting a daughter, but Sun really grew on them. The information they gathered about Sun was extremely disturbing. They were saddened by how she was treated in Ezra. She was from a noble family, but she was living worse than a prisoner. Sena grew particularly close to Sun than Junho did.

Junho still favored Yuna over Sun, but he slowly grew to accept Sun into their family. They couldn’t announce publicly that Sun was their daughter, but they were willing to accept her. Junho had a keen eye and would know immediately if Sun was a threat to their family. He noticed that both Yuna and his wife were growing fond of Sun to the point that she had become family. He gradually accepted Sun regardless of his enmity with the Kingdom of Ezra.

Yuna came across a block in her path for knowledge. Recently, she’s been craving for books that contain new information. She’s already read through countless number of books and none of them contained information that was useful. It was extremely difficult to find books that she hadn’t read.

It annoyed Yuna that most of them were outdated books that contained myths. Some of them stated that the earth was flat. Yuna found it funny that people thought that they'd fall to their deaths after reaching the end of the earth. They'd probably walk around the whole world before finding out that they came back to their original location. If only humans could walk that far. It seemed nearly impossible.

If Yuna was supposed to make this world any better, she would have to first spread the knowledge she had. Maybe then she could find others with brilliant ideas that could enhance her own knowledge. Yuna strongly believed that two heads were better than one. With the help of a group of intelligent individuals, she’d be able to invent and discover many new things.

Yuna neatly put the books that were scattered around back into the shelves. She didn’t need to call a maid to clean her study. She’d prefer to clean her own things. She loved cleaning in her past life and that hasn’t changed one bit.

She didn’t need a maid and thought it was useless for her family to keep them around. She’d rather do her own chores and live a leisurely life without untrustworthy servants that could potentially betray her. After tidying up her study room, she stepped out and walked over to Sun’s room.

Sun had recently grown interested in studying about plants. She loved reading about plants and experimenting with them to create medicine and beauty products. Yuna had told her about the use of flowers and plants to create beauty products that didn’t exist in their world. She taught Sun to create lotion, shampoo, conditioner and even how to fix skin problems.

Sun had scars that covered her entire body and Yuna was knowledgeable about the use of medicine to cure all types of blemishes from the skin. She created a special medicine for Sun to help her remove the scars. Sun was astounded by the results and demanded to know the

recipe for the miracle medicine. Over time, Sun became proficient at creating skin care products and medicine that was useful for various ailments.

Yuna knocked on the door and waited for Sun to respond. Sun called out from behind the curtain, “Yuna?” Sun was in the special space they created for Sun to experiment with medication. She answered, “Yes, it’s me. Can I come in?” Sun let her into the room and showed her the medicine she was working on. She successfully created a set of beauty products that were used to remove blemishes from the skin.

After trying out the products, their family’s skin was beaming, and their hair shined compared to the rest of the population. Since majority of the Kim Household had tight lips, no one was able to find the source for their sudden beautification. People grew curious about the general’s household and how they were becoming extremely successful in recent years.

Haemi was one of those people. She couldn’t find the chance to inform the Kim Household of her wish to meet Yuna. Although she was cousins with Yuna, she didn’t have the power and authority to step foot into the Kim Household. Their estate was heavily guarded with soldiers that demanded a permit to enter. The only way for her to gain the general’s attention was for her to be in the same room as him.

She devised a plan to get the result of what she wanted. She needed to get on Yuna’s good side in order for her to meet Minho. She hardly had the chance to socialize with nobles of high standing. If only Yuna wasn’t such an oddball. It was hard trying to get the girl to leave the house. It would only be a matter of time before Yuna would fall into her clutches. All she needed to do was act like the only person that could be trusted.

It wouldn’t be that hard to fool a kid. She probably wasn’t that smart and if she spent most of her time at home, she wouldn’t know much about the world. It would be like stealing candy from a baby. All she had to do was cater to her wishes and manipulate the kid from behind the scenes. She was good at that. She already had the boys at her beck and call, it wouldn’t be that much harder to get a little girl to do the same.
