Chapter 41 - HIBI

Just as he lost all hope of surviving, a girl shouted at the shopkeeper. The girl was dressed lavishly, and most could tell that she came from a prominent family. The guards that surrounded her were enough to be considered a princess. He had no clue who this girl was, but she was willing to help him. She shouted, “STOP! Look what you’ve done to him? Can’t you see that he’s hurt badly?”

She hurriedly rushed to him and covered him from the shopkeeper. He could not beat Eunho any longer because a noble lady chose to protect him. She had a higher status than him and he knew the consequences of angering a noble. He had a family to take care of and could not cause trouble with a noble.

She reprimanded the shopkeeper, “Even if he’s done something wrong, you shouldn’t be beating him like this. He’s just a little boy. How could you be so cruel?” The shopkeeper confidently replied, “He stole from the shop. I have the right to be angry with him.” She glared at the shopkeeper, “Even if he stole, you could’ve let the authorities handle it. What gives you the right to abuse him like this?”

The shopkeeper had nothing to say. She had a point. He felt guilty after seeing the state of the boy. His face was black and blue. He could tell that the boy was on the verge of dying. The shopkeeper was used to cooking all day long, he had never killed anyone before. He felt instant regret for almost beating him to death.

The girl noticed that the shopkeeper was regretting his decision, so she continued, “How much was the bread he stole? I’ll pay for it.” She gestured to one of her servants and they handed him a bag of coins. She glared at him, “Take the money and leave. I don’t want to see you anymore.”

The shopkeeper did not say another word. He took the money and went back to his shop. The crowd dispersed after the shopkeeper left. Yuna helped him up from the ground. Eunho grimaced from the pain while getting up on his feet. It seemed that he had broken a rib or two, he had a hard time walking.

He found it shocking that a young girl had the strength to lift him up. He didn’t hit his growth spurt, so the girl was an inch taller than him. He had no clue how old she was, but she didn’t seem to be much older than him. He let her help him up.

He groaned in pain while getting up. Yuna called the servants, “Help this boy get on the carriage. We must find a doctor for him immediately.” The servants bowed and replied in unison, “Yes miss.” They followed her orders perfectly. They helped him get in the carriage. The carriage was luxurious, and the cushions were so soft. He never owned a bed.

He was used to sleeping on the floor. He felt jealous of the little girl that could own such a luxurious carriage at her age. He was struggling to find food while she was enjoying the luxurious lifestyle. How come she could be born in a wealthy family while he was abandoned from the start. He felt that life was unfair. If only he could be born into a wealthy family, he wouldn’t be struggling like this.

Tears spilled out of his eyes. The servants noticed that he was crying. So, they comforted him, “Don’t cry. It’ll be okay. Our miss has chosen to help you. You won’t be struggling much longer.” He listened to their words and later discovered that they were correct.

The little girl that helped him had changed his life. After the doctors took care of his wounds, he was led to the Kim Residence. From there, he was given the opportunity to work for her family as a servant or go to war with General Junho’s men. He chose the latter option.

For some reason, the girl never showed up afterwards. He was curious about her, but it seemed that he was insignificant in her life. She continued with her life without noticing him while he was the opposite. Whenever he saw her, his eyes would follow her only. She never paid any attention to him.

He knew his place and that place belonged below her in ranks. He was just a peasant boy that could not gain the affection of a noble lady. He kept his distance from her and continued to work for the general as a soldier. He was very young, but that didn’t stop him from training like the other soldiers.

General Junho was very strict with him. Over the years, he had trained relentlessly without care for his own health. He vowed to remain loyal to the Kim Household, no matter the cost. Through various efforts, he grew to become a prominent general in the battlefield. The general grew close to him during this time. He treated him like a son while he continued to neglect his own daughter.

Eunho felt guilty about this. Yuna struggled to get her father’s attention while he was enjoying what she deserved. He felt guilty towards

her and that was the reason why he wasn’t willing to tell Yuna about his close relationship to the General. It would also be difficult for him to explain to Yuna that this happened in his previous lifetime.

When he got back from fighting a war, he discovered the Yuna was executed by Prince Minho. He regretted never getting the chance to speak to her again. Unknowingly, he had fallen in love with the girl since his 6th birthday. He lived the rest of his years loving her one-sidedly. He was so stupid to not notice his feelings for so long.

He felt that his heart was torn apart when he discovered that Yuna was no longer in this world. He also let the prince steal his girl. He could’ve been with her, but the Prince chose to get rid of her. He felt regret and guilty for not protecting her properly. He was too busy fighting a war to protect the one person that truly mattered to him.

After living the rest of his life without her, he died with a broken heart. He no longer cared about his life. When he woke up from his death, he was 5 years old. He was given another chance to protect her in this lifetime. He vowed to not let anything bad happen to her ever again. In this lifetime, any of her opponents would have to get through him first before they could lay their hands on Yuna.
