Yuna caught him staring at her for a long time. She wondered, “What are you thinking about so deeply?” Eunho was caught off guard. He was too immersed in his thoughts; he forgot that she was right in front of him. He responded, “It’s nothing. By the way, why did you fall off the wall? Where are you going?”
Yuna thought it would be better to let him know, especially since he was going to protect her in the future. Her eyebrows scrunched up when she thought about her kidnappers that failed. She answered his question, “I wasn’t trying to run away or anything. Why would I? This is my own home. There were a couple of maids that were trying to take me somewhere. I have no clue. They couldn’t get through the front gates, so they tried to sneak me out over the wall.”
He frowned, “So they were trying to kidnap you? Why didn’t you tell me sooner? They must’ve gotten away by now.” Yuna felt stupid for not letting him know sooner. She was too focused on meeting Eunho that she didn’t care about the kidnappers that almost succeeded. She apologized, “I’m sorry. I should’ve told you sooner.” She stared down at her hands guiltily.
Eunho frowned, “What did I say about saying sorry?” She glanced up at him once she was reminded of what he said before. He didn’t like it when she apologized. She tried to explain herself, “There’s nothing wrong with me apologizing. Isn’t that the polite thing to do?” His frown became a scowl, “You did nothing wrong, so why should you be the one to apologize?”
She had no way to please him. He didn’t like it when she apologized, and he wasn’t happy with her for not telling him her situation. He was so hard to deal with. She’s never had anyone care for her in this way for a long time. Obviously, she didn’t count her parents in this lifetime and in her past. She never had a guy care for her, so she had no clue what to do to appease his anger. Why was he so angry in the first place?
She asked, “Why are you so upset? It’s not like you were going to get kidnapped. I should be the one that’s upset, not you.” She had a point; he shouldn’t be feeling this upset unless he had feelings for her. Of course, he wasn’t going to let her know how he felt. Eunho spent his last lifetime hiding his feelings, it wouldn’t be too hard to do the same in this lifetime.
He explained, “I’m not upset, so calm down. I just wanted to find out who was behind the attempted kidnapping. Do you have a clue as to who would want to harm you?” Yuna could not tell him the full details. She was willing to tell her father about her reincarnation, but she didn’t want to tell Eunho. He would probably think she was crazy if she did.
There was no way of concealing that part of the story if she told him the Empress and Prince Minho were possible threats. She’d have to explain to him how she knew they were the culprits. She had no concrete evidence. In the end, she chose to keep it from him. She was sure that he’d find out later.
She shrugged, “I have no clue. I assume that I’ve become a target after becoming Princess Ara’s teacher. You’ll probably have to investigate to find out who would want me dead instead of teaching Princess Ara.” Eunho thought back to when he saved her at the palace. The ninjas were oddly targeting Yuna after they arrived. There must be a connection.
He knew the events that would happen in the future, but he did not know the full details. He spent most of his past life in the battlefield. He wasn’t interested in the palace drama. He regretted that now because he
didn’t know the dangers that she was facing. He felt useless to her. If only he could’ve been the one to stand beside her, she wouldn’t have lost her life so easily.
Yuna felt a cold aura coming from Eunho. He seemed to be lost in thought about her kidnappers. She let him think for a bit. She also thought about how she could get him to find out it was the Empress. There was no way of telling him without evidence. She’d have to find the evidence on her own while in the palace.
She interrupted his thoughts, “I don’t think there’d be a point in chasing after the maids. They’ve probably run away by now. I’d like to go back to my residence. I’ve been out in the sun for too long. I just need some time to relax before heading out again.” Eunho nodded, “Okay, I’ll take you back.”
Suddenly, Eunho lifted her up into a princess carry. She didn’t expect that he would carry her. She blushed, “You don’t have to carry me. I can walk on my own.” He refused, “No, you just fell off a wall and you don’t look too good. Be good and let me carry you.” She was going to be stubborn and insist that he let her down, but he was right. She was feeling a little dizzy and the thick layers of clothing weren’t helping her one bit.
He walked to the entrance of the Kim Residence with Yuna in his arms. The guards at the front were shocked to see that Yuna was in the arms of General Eunho. They bowed respectfully to the young general, “General Eunho, what seems to be the problem?” He replied in a cold voice, “Lady Yuna was almost kidnapped. I’m very disappointed in all of you for not being able to tell that there were intruders in the Kim Residence. It should be your responsibility to tell whether they work for the Kim Family or if they are intruders. I will have to tell General Junho about what you’ve done.”
The guards broke out in a cold sweat as they watched Eunho bring Yuna inside. How were they supposed to know that the maids were intruders? Lady Yuna didn’t reveal to them that she was in danger. At least they didn’t let them through, or else they would experience the wrath of General Junho. They bowed their heads in unison, “We have greatly disappointed the Kim Family. We will take any punishment that is decided.”
Eunho glared at them as if they were going to be put to death, “You’ll find out soon enough, what will be your punishment. So, guard the front properly.” Eunho left the guards to their own devices and he strode through the courtyard towards her bedroom.
Yuna instantly noticed that Eunho knew the layout of her residence. She couldn’t help but wonder if he was really stalking her. How in the world did he know where her bedroom was? She glared up at him, “How do you know where my bedroom is? Would you like to explain?”
Eunho was caught off guard. He was too focused on getting her to safety that he didn’t realize his own mistake. He had no idea how to get out of this. He had to play it off like he wasn’t some creep that watched her when she slept. He tried to explain himself, “It’s not like that. I just know the layout of the General’s household. All the soldiers know the layout. So, stop accusing me.”
Yuna continued glaring at him, “You’re acting suspicious. When did I accuse you?” He frowned, “You called me a stalker before.” She replied, “I did call you a stalker, because you have information on me that you shouldn’t have. How do you know what I do and where my bedroom is? If I don’t find a good explanation within the next 5 minutes, I’m going to assume that you’re a pervert that likes to watch me in my bedroom.”
Eunho felt the cold sweat run down his back when he heard her. Will he get caught this easily? He couldn’t let that happen. He explained, “I’m
not a pervert. You should know that I’ve been in this residence on multiple occasions for various reasons. I have never stepped foot into your bedroom, and you should blame the servants in the household for being talkative.” Yuna thought the explanation was good enough. She chose to believe him, “Fine, I’ll believe you this one time. If I find out that you were stalking me, I won’t let it go so easily.” She looked away from him and let him continue to take her to her room.
