Chapter 44 - HIBI

It was later decided that Yuna would get proper time to rest after the attempted kidnapping. Eunho was able to get a doctor to take a look at Yuna. The doctor wasn’t too worried about her condition. She had a minor heat stroke. Both Sun and her mother helped her cool down and rest. After her father got home, he decided it would be best for Eunho to stay at their residence to protect Yuna from any danger.

Meanwhile, the Empress was furious with her servants for not successfully following the plan. The servants that had failed the task were killed on the spot to prevent anyone from finding out the mastermind. If any of them were left behind, it would be easy to tell who was behind the attempted kidnapping.

Since her plan had failed and it seemed that Yuna was being protected profusely by the two generals, she had to find another way to establish an alliance with the Miyon country. The princess’ arranged marriage didn’t go so well, and she had no way of explaining to Miyon that Princess Ara wasn’t going to get married to their prince any time soon.

If they were to find out, she could be in danger. She knew that dealing with Miyon’s royals were extremely dangerous, but she had no choice. She had no way of gaining enough power to counter crown prince Jimin. She had no son to raise as a future Emperor. The only way she could think of was to find a prince and make him choose her side.

The only person she could think of was Prince Minho. He was not favored by the Emperor, but things could change in the future. She hurried over to Minho’s office and had the servants announce her arrival. Minho was sitting in his office when the Empress’ arrival was announced. He hardly interacted with the Empress and couldn’t figure out why she was there to meet him.

He decided to meet her to find out what she wanted. The Empress walked into his room elegantly. She arrogantly forced him off his seat and made him sit on the guest seat in front of his desk. After settling in his seat, she smirked at him with hidden intentions that seeped through her smile. He asked, “What brings the empress to my humble office?”

She laughed, “I didn’t come for you to entertain me. If that’s what you’re wondering.” He frowned, “Then why are you here?” She responded, “I’ve come to see if you’d be interested in forming an alliance.” There was no way things could be this simple. He doubted her, “What makes you think that I’d trust you so easily? You should find another person to play with you.” The queen frowned at his statement, “That’s a bit harsh. Especially when I’ve come to you to help.”

His eyebrow lifted up curiously, “How could you be helpful in my situation?” She laughed, “A little birdie told me that you’re looking to become the next Emperor. Wouldn’t it help if I was an ally?” Minho didn’t want to admit it, but he did need the Empress’ help. His plan to seduce Yuna wasn’t successful and he had to find a way to gain support to even be considered a candidate to become Emperor.

The only thing that Minho had was being born as the second prince. If he could figure out a way to get rid of Jimin, he could easily find a way to become the next crown prince. He didn’t particularly enjoy the Empress’ company, but it was better than missing his chance to eliminate his competition. He caved to her wishes, “What’s in it for you? I’m sure that you wouldn’t solely be my ally for no benefit.”

The Empress’ smile revealed her malicious intent, “I need you to get rid of the General’s daughter. If you can’t get rid of her, at least make it so

that she cannot teach Princess Ara. Although the Emperor does not favor you, you can still find a way to convince your father to let this marriage continue.” Minho questioned her, “Why are you so adamant on getting her married? What are you planning?”

The Empress initially had no plans on revealing the real reasons for why she was pushing this marriage. Although, Minho was an ally, it wouldn’t be good for him to know the entire truth. She had her doubts about him. She quickly came up with a lie that would suffice, “The reason is because I grew tired of playing around with Princess Ara. I thought it would be fun to see her live a miserable life with a good for nothing man. Don’t you agree?”

He didn’t like his sister one bit. He was shamed at her birthday party. He had never been so humiliated in his life. He would make her pay. He was blinded by his rage towards her, that he chose to help the Empress. He agreed profusely, “That doesn’t seem to be a bad idea. My sister is an eyesore. It would be nice to see her miserable face. I’m sure you plan on marrying her off to some deadbeat, right?”

Minho didn’t know the person that Princess Ara was going to marry. He wasn’t interested in anything regarding her. He just hoped that her future husband would make her life horrible. He was initially planning on bullying her when he had the chance. After thinking about it, he decided that it would fit his plans perfectly. He wouldn’t have to deal with her on his own, if she was married off to some scumbag that could do the job for him.

The Empress smiled when she recognized Minho’s intentions. She had a knack for finding a person’s weaknesses. She could instantly tell that Minho had a big ego. He could easily become her puppet if she found situations to make it so that his plans would align with hers. He could not stand being humiliated in public.

He was a narcissist that admired himself. He would do anything to get rid of anything that made him look like a fool. The Empress was excited to see him fall into her plans so easily. She chose to tell him who the groom was. It would fall into her plans if he believed the Miyon prince to be a heinous criminal.

Minho would easily be blinded by his rage and he would be stupid enough to let the marriage continue. She wasn’t afraid of him finding out what she was getting in return. He would be too distracted by his ego to notice anything. Minho would later hate to regret his own decision if he found out why.
