“These conditions shouldn’t be too difficult to follow. I want to make sure that you’re trained separately from everyone else. It isn’t appropriate for a noble lady to be trained the same way a man should. I will only allow you to be trained because it would be good to have a way to defend yourself, not that I won’t be there to protect you. There may be a time when I’m not present.”
He scowled at the thought of her in any danger while he was gone. He would rather see her live comfortably and in a safe environment, but it wasn’t realistic. He knew the dangers their family would face especially since he was in such a high position that could easily counter the royal family.
He continued to list out his conditions, “The other condition is that if I see you with any bruises or injuries because of your training, you will stop all training until there are no more injuries. As your father, I do not want to see a single scratch on your body. Do you understand?”
Yuna reassured her father, “I’ll be extra careful while training. I can follow all the conditions that you have listed. I’ll be sure not to disappoint you in any way, father. So please be reassured.” He reluctantly agreed to her training, but he wouldn’t have a problem in stopping the training if anything were to happen to her.
General Eunho would have to deal with the consequences if he saw even a tiny scratch on her. He wouldn’t hesitate to make his life a living hell if there were any permanent injuries. In the end, Yuna promised to follow all of his conditions and things were going as planned. She didn’t expect her father to be so understanding of her, but it seemed that he respected her decision and whatever she wanted to accomplish.
After discussing everything with her father, she went back to the training grounds to relay the message to Eunho. On her arrival, she found Eunho majestically swinging his sword through the air. His movements were controlled perfectly, and it resembled many of the martial artists in movies that she was fond of.
She wanted to be like him someday. She wanted to be someone that could protect the people she cared about rather than being protected by others. She used to be the opposite. She always hoped that there would be a prince charming on a white horse that could lift her off her feet. She dreamed about being protected by a strong man. She later realized that her hopes were unrealistic. The prince charming that she always dreamed of was nothing but an illusion. There was no man that would be capable of becoming the ideal prince charming. If there was, she wouldn’t believe in him nor would she fall in love with him.
She decided that she would be the one to protect all the people that were important to her. She believed that in order for her family to be safe, she needed to take matters into her own hands. She wouldn’t trust anyone else to do this job for her. She knew that most people would judge her for being unruly and unladylike, but that didn’t matter to her.
When Yuna saw him training so earnestly, she felt encouraged and confident that she could accomplish her goals. She knew that anything was possible with enough hard work. She had experienced something similar in her previous life. She worked hard to become an entrepreneur/engineer.
It would take a lot of effort to become an accomplished martial artist. She knew how hard it would be, but that didn’t stop her. Yuna was willing to prove to the world that anything can be accomplished with hard work and effort. It didn’t matter whether she was female or not. What matters is the effort and hard work that’ll pay off in the end.
While Yuna was lost in thought, Eunho sensed her presence. He found her staring at him admiringly. He never even imagined that the girl of his dreams would look at him in this way. His heart thumped loudly in his chest. He coughed loudly to interrupt her thoughts.
She jumped when she heard the cough. She was just caught staring at him for who knows how long. It was embarrassing to be caught admiring him so openly. She instantly regretted her actions. It wasn’t like she had any feelings for him. She just admired him a little bit. She was sure that she wouldn’t find any man in this lifetime as well.
She quickly cleared her thoughts and began explaining the important details, “I was able to get permission from father to receive your training privately. If you’re okay with it.” Eunho frowned, “I didn’t agree. I don’t think that it would be a smart idea. Plus, you’re too tiny to even hold a sword. Wouldn’t it be better if you had guards to protect you? I’ve been given orders to protect you from any danger in the near future. You don’t have to worry about anything.”
Yuna was frustrated with his answer. She painstakingly got her father to approve her request, but now she was facing another wall. She had no clue on how to convince Eunho that she needed to train. It wasn’t an easy task to change the way people thought in this society. It seemed that she would have to prove to him, that she could withstand any training that he required.
Yuna sighed, “I know that you don’t believe I can become a strong martial artist or wield any sword. Anyone would doubt that females can fight just as good as men can. If I proved to you that I’m worthy of becoming your student, would you accept my request?”
Eunho didn’t expect that she would be so stubborn. He had no way of talking her out of it. She seemed to be adamant on becoming his student. He replied, “I don’t know how you could prove anything. If you knew me more, you’d know that I don’t easily accept students. There’s many that have tried to prove that they’re worthy to become my student. It isn’t an easy task.”
Yuna tried to persuade him despite his constant refusal, “Even if it’s a hard task, I’m willing to do anything. So, what can I do to prove that I’m worthy?”
