Chapter 48 - HIBI

Eunho was hesitant in telling her his requirements to become his student. He didn’t want to see her prove him wrong. He intentionally planned on making the request a difficult one to prevent her from pursuing her goals of becoming his student.

He listed out his requirements, “In order to become my student, I have certain requirements that need to be met. A good martial artist must have a great foundation for the basics. It’s important that any martial artist should have the strength and endurance to continue learning advanced techniques. It may sound like an easy task, but my requirements a bit different. If you’ve been trained by anyone else, it may just be a simple exercise. That is not the case for me.”

Yuna certainly knew that whatever his requirements, it wouldn’t be an easy one. She was determined to meet his requirements with all that she had. He continued, “I’m someone that believes that the basics are essential in martial arts. Many have tried to meet my requirements but have failed. I’m sure that you won’t be able to accomplish what I require.”

Yuna was eager to hear his requirements, “I understand, so get to the point.”

Eunho frowned at her being impatient, “Fine, I’ll tell you the requirements, but I’m warning you. It’s not going to be easy.” She was frustrated, “Yeah, I get the point. I know it’s not easy, but you’ll see. I can do it. I know I can.”

He was reluctant, but he had no choice, “I have a strict training regimen and it requires that any and all of my soldiers be able to lift a 100kg boulder above their shoulders. This task is so difficult, that most have tried for over 10 years. It’s nearly impossible to accomplish.”

He exaggerated a bit to get her to feel discouraged. Many of his soldiers could not lift a 100kg boulder. He fudged the number a bit. He required most of his men to lift at least a 70kg boulder, but not 100kg. He knew that if his soldiers had a difficult time with a 70kg boulder, she most definitely wouldn’t be able to accomplish 100kg. It was humanely impossible, especially since her physique was so petite. If she could lift that much weight, he would probably believe that this world was nothing but a creation by some author out there.

He continued to exaggerate his requirements, “Another one of my requirements is for any martial artist to be able to train their body through consistent exercise to build stamina and endurance. My training regimen involves 1,000 push-ups, 1,000 pull-ups, and 1,000 sit-ups. Another thing is that I require that my soldiers run at least 30 miles per day. If you can’t accomplish any of this, I’m afraid I won’t be able to train you.”

Yuna was smart and she knew that he fudged the numbers, but she was willing to try. Even if she had to train rigorously until the point of extreme exhaustion. She would make it happen. She nodded, “How much time will you give me?”

He sternly stated his deadline, “I’ll give you about a month. I know that you’ll probably have to spend some of that time going to the palace, but I’m sure your father will be able to convince the emperor to extend the princess’ lessons to at least a month from now.”

Yuna groaned, “Only a month? That’s too short.” Eunho laughed, “Then I guess you’ve already failed. If you can’t prove to me within a month, I’m sure that you won’t be able to accomplish anything more even in 10 years. So, there’s no point in trying. You should just live comfortably. I’ll make sure to protect you from any dangers.”

Yuna glared at him for being so unfair, “I never said I won’t do it. I’m going to. I’ll prove to you that I can. You’ll see. I’ll work hard and achieve what you think is impossible. So, don’t discourage me from training any longer.” Eunho frowned, “Fine. I’ll let you train on your own until one month from now. If I don’t see the results I require, you’ll just have to trust that I’ll protect you. There will be no training for you if you fail.”

She could tell that he doubted her abilities. He was intentionally making it hard for her so that she could rely on him. She wasn’t going to let him demean her for being a petite female. She’ll prove him wrong and she’ll be the one to laugh at him for being judgmental. She could easily picture him feeling guilty for making fun of her.

She recalled her previous life when she thought of all those people that doubted her. Many bullied her and thought she wasn’t capable of succeeding because she was a woman. In the end, she proved all of them wrong. She already accomplished her goals and she’ll do the same in this lifetime.

Yuna stubbornly stated, “Fine. I’ll prove to you that I can do it. Just wait a month and you’ll see. Meet you in a month.” She waved her hand at him and walked away feeling frustrated with his confident appearance. She wanted to prove him wrong and laugh at him later.

She went straight to her room and looked in her closet for anything that she could wear comfortably for training purposes. To her dismay, she couldn’t find a single outfit that could be considered as workout clothes. Her closet was filled with dresses and garments that were meant for noble ladies. What did she expect? She hardly went shopping for any clothes because her days were spent reading books.

She knew that she needed to go on a shopping spree to find appropriate clothing, but what worried her was the constant assassination attempts she faced during a short period of time. If she wanted to go out during this time, she needed to face Eunho again. She didn’t want to face him after how he treated her.

She’d rather sneak out than to have to ask him for his protection. She thought of any possible ways to get around the guards that were strictly keeping an eye on her residence. She needed to disguise herself as someone that constantly went in and out of the Kim Residence. She had no outfits in her closet that she could use as a disguise.

She rushed over to the servant’s courtyard. She found male servant garments hanging on the drying racks. She pulled the clothes off the drying rack and stuffed it into her bag. She rushed back to her bedroom and changed into the disguise.
