Chapter 51 - HIBI

Eunho couldn’t stay focused on training his soldiers due to what happened with Yuna not too long ago. He needed to get his soldiers ready for what would happen in the future. His soldiers were growing extremely lax with their training after the war had ended. It was peaceful during this time, but he knew that this peace was only temporary. He knew that in the near future, there would be a long war against the country of Miyon.

Eunho tried his best to concentrate on the task at hand, but he couldn’t stop thinking about Yuna. Every time he felt that he knew her a little bit, she would surprise him with new information about herself. He always believed Yuna to be the perfect noble lady that needed saving, but after their last encounter, he felt that he didn’t truly know what was going on in Yuna’s head.

Sometimes he just wanted to pry inside her head to see what she was thinking. He had no doubt that his training regimen was an impossible goal to achieve. He intentionally made it difficult so that he wouldn’t have to see her in any danger. Learning martial arts was a dangerous thing. With strength comes power and with power comes danger.

He hoped the Yuna would realize this in the future. She didn’t realize the dangers of living the life of a martial artist. He didn’t want her to be in even more danger than she was in her previous life. She didn’t need to learn to fight if he could protect her. He wouldn’t allow anyone to harm her.

While he was lost in thought, he was interrupted by the frantic maids that paced around the household. He stopped one of the maids and asked, “What’s wrong? Did something happen?” The maid frantically explained the situation, “The madam is looking for the young miss. We can’t find her anywhere.” Eunho frowned, “Have you checked her bedroom? I saw her return to her bedroom recently.”

The maid was hysterical, she could not stand still after hearing about Yuna’s disappearance. She responded hastily, “She isn’t in her bedroom. We’ve looked everywhere. She’s missing. I’m worried that the miss has been kidnapped again. What should we do?” Eunho felt his heart drop when he heard that Yuna was missing again. He was just thinking about how he would protect her from any danger. How could she be gone in merely seconds from their meeting.

He questioned the maid, “What have all of you been doing? Aren’t you supposed to keep an eye on the miss?” The maid felt guilty for not watching over the young miss. Regardless of whether the miss didn’t like being accompanied by her servants, they should’ve remained at her side at all costs.

The thought of being punished harshly for neglecting her duties made her legs weak. She kneeled before General Eunho and began pleading, “Please don’t punish us. We were told not to bother the miss when she’s in her bedroom. She doesn’t like being served by us. There was nothing we could do to avoid this situation.”

Eunho glared at the maid, “Did I just hear you say that the situation couldn’t be avoided? It should be your job to make sure that she’s safe. I’ve never met such lazy servants that neglect their duties. No wonder she went missing in merely seconds from almost being kidnapped. If she is not found, all of you will be punished severely. What are you doing wasting time? Go find her this instant!”

The maid scrambled up from the floor and started frantically searching for Yuna. For the next couple minutes, there were maids and guards running around the entire residence to look for Yuna. Eunho was also looking from room to room, but she was no where to be found. He felt frustrated when he found each room empty.

He hoped that she wasn’t in danger. He felt his heart break into a million pieces whenever he thought about the time, he discovered Yuna’s decapitated body just thrown in front of the gates without any care. Her head was on a spike to remind citizens that anyone that seeked power beyond their means would cost them their lives.

Eunho was different. He knew that this reminder was only to those that didn’t know the true reason behind the war. He felt disgusted with the reason, but he had no choice. He was just a chess piece that was used for the royal family’s enjoyment. He had no say in the matter. Although he didn’t have enough power against a royal, he was still in a fairly high position.

He thought that he was powerful enough to ask for Yuna’s hand in marriage, but his hopes and dreams were crushed so cruelly. He had come back victorious from the long war against Miyon, but all of that was in vain. The one person he wanted to return to after the long war was no longer in this world. He found out too late that even if she wasn’t dead, she was already married off to the second prince.

He had worked tirelessly to make it back in time to ask for her hand in marriage, but his hopes were crushed the instant he came back. The girl he was hoping to see was long gone. After he saw her head on the gates, he could only see red. Without the one person he was living for, he became an empty shell of a person. It felt like his soul had left his body and there was only a beast that craved to see blood. Blood of those that dared to harm his love. He spent the next few years slaying every single person that was involved with Yuna’s execution.

In the end, he successfully slayed Minho. He had accomplished his revenge after many years, but he still wasn’t satisfied. The girl of his dreams would never come back even if he was successful in avenging her. It occurred to Eunho that he had no reason to live if Yuna was no longer in that world and he had already killed off every single person that was involved with her death.

He spent a long time wallowing in his sorrow after avenging her. Later, he chose to end his life. Upon his death, he was given another chance to redo his life. Although he was given a second chance, he still felt the dark side of him that craved to see the blood of Yuna’s enemies. He didn’t want to show Yuna that side of him in this lifetime.

She deserved to live a life filled with nothing but happiness. He would make that happen at all costs. He just didn’t know how. He didn’t want Yuna to see the monster he had become. It wasn’t easy to protect her without showing her this side of him. He had blood on his hands that kept him from confessing his true feelings to her.

He didn’t think that he deserved her after failing her so many times. He promised that he would protect her in this lifetime, but what was he doing? He couldn’t even keep her safe in her own home. He felt like a worthless piece of cr*p. He clenched his fist in frustration when he could not find a single trace of her disappearance.

He looked for clues in her bedroom. He didn’t see any signs of her struggle. He kept searching until he came across a pile of clothing that resembled the clothes she wore when she last spoke with him. Her clothing was still warm, and it seemed that she had taken off her clothing not too long ago. He leapt through the air tenaciously.

Eunho was extremely talented at martial arts. He had trained endlessly to achieve superhuman strength, speed, and agility in his previous lifetime. He had to go through the same training in this lifetime to retain those abilities. If he wanted to be at the same level, he needed to train endlessly. He knew that it would only be a matter of time before he could achieve the same level if he worked hard.
