Namjoo was very cautious around people to avoid being caught as a female. She couldn’t let this kid get away scot free. She decided to stick around and find out more about the kid. Yuna had no clue on how to fix the situation. It seemed that she wasn’t going to easily get away from her. Yuna scratched her head nervously, “So, what do you plan on doing with me?”
Namjoo replied ominously, “If I find that you revealed any of my secrets, I will come for you. Don’t think that I’ll let you go so easily.” Yuna cried in her heart. What did I get myself into, now? She begged, “I promise I won’t reveal anything, so could you let me go? I have to be somewhere.” Namjoo wasn’t planning on keeping her prisoner. She wasn’t into imprisoning little kids.
It wouldn’t be too bad to keep a close eye on her. She seemed to be a weak kid. She could tell that the kid didn’t have a single bit of aura distinguishing her as a martial artist. Namjoo sighed, “I guess I’ll have to let you go since you have business.” Yuna exhaled in relief, “If there isn’t anything else, can I leave?”
Before Yuna could actually leave, Namjoo held firmly onto her sleeve. Namjoo glowered at Yuna menacingly, “Where do you think you’re going? I never said that I’m going to let you go alone. I’ll have to tag along. You wouldn’t mind, right?” Yuna exclaimed in shock, “So, you plan on stalking me?” Namjoo frowned, “You didn’t have to phrase it like that. I’m just trying to find some insurance so that you won’t go behind my back and tell everyone about my secret.”
Yuna sighed, “I already told you that I wouldn’t do that.” Namjoo smiled ominously, “And how am I supposed to trust you? I don’t know a single thing about you and the little information you gave me seems to be a lie.” She had a point, there was no way she could just let her go so easily. If the situation was in reverse, Yuna would definitely be suspicious.
She had only one option and that was to let this stranger follow her while she shopped. Yuna decided to reveal her identity to make the stranger trust her. Plus, she would get a bit of information about this stranger in return, if she revealed something about herself. Yuna introduced herself, “I’m sorry for the late introduction, but I’m Kim, Yuna. I am the only daughter of the left prime minister; Kim, Junho.”
Namjoo was shocked when she discovered the true identity of the girl. She had always admired General Junho for his achievements. He was a war-hero that inspired many and this included herself. Namjoo strived to be like the General. He was outstanding and all martial artists strived to be similar to the war-hero that shook the nation.
Namjoo’s tone instantly changed to one that was friendly, “I’m honored to be in the presence of the one and only daughter of the General. I’m deeply sorry for the disrespect I have caused you. I would like to re-do our introductions. I hope that all of our previous interactions will be forgotten. My name is Gong, Namjoo. I’m the only daughter of the Gong Family.”
Yuna was not expecting this kind of response. She wasn’t expecting to meet a fan of her fathers. She came across countless people, but all of them only seeked to gain something from being on good terms with her father. Yuna could already tell that Namjoo had no intention of gaining anything.
She sensed that Namjoo wasn’t lying and she could easily tell when a person earnestly admired someone. Yuna was used to seeing teenage
fangirls that admired their idols in her previous life. Their facial expressions were always the same. It seemed that Namjoo was one of these fangirls that admired her father. An unusual sense of pride washed over her. She was proud to call him her father.
Yuna smiled smugly at Namjoo, “Now that you know who I am, you change your attitude instantly. Don’t you think you’re being shameless?” Namjoo coughed, “Shameless? I only acted that way towards you because I didn’t know who you were. You’re being a bit too harsh.” Yuna laughed, “I’m only stating the truth.”
Namjoo frowned, “Regardless of if I was shameless or not, I won’t treat you badly in the future. Isn’t that what truly matters?” Yuna agreed, “I guess I have no reason to treat you like an enemy if you admire my father that much.” Namjoo smiled when Yuna caved, “I’m happy to hear that. If you didn’t catch me changing, how would I have known that the great General Junho’s daughter was right in front of my eyes?”
Yuna looked away in discomfort. She wasn’t used to this much flattery. It made the shivers run down her arms and back. Yuna grumbled, “Stop flattering me.” Namjoo’s huge grin made Yuna want to vomit, “I’m glad that I was able to meet his daughter. So, what is he like at home? Is it true that he can defeats thousands of people with the swing of his sword? I would love to see him on the battlefield someday. I would gladly fight along side him.”
Yuna frowned, “So, you want there to be a war just so that you could be on the same battlefield as my father? What kind of sick thinking is that?” Namjoo quickly explained herself, “NO! I didn’t mean it like that. I just wish to be next to the General so that I could witness his awesomeness.”
Yuna was getting tired of dealing with this over-obsessed fangirl. She quickly moved away from Namjoo, in hopes of getting away from her. She exclaimed, “Now that this misunderstanding seems to be cleared, I’ll be on my way.” Namjoo was quicker than Yuna, so she easily caught up to her. “Then I guess, I’ll have to tag along.”
Yuna grumbled to herself, “How did I get myself stuck with someone like her?” Namjoo had great hearing as a talented martial artist. She responded to her, “I guess you’ll have to deal with me from now on.” Yuna sighed, “Fine. You win.” Namjoo grinned back, “So where are you headed to?”
Yuna had no choice but to let her tag along. She explained, “I’m going to the marketplace to get myself some comfortable training gear. I want to learn martial arts.” Namjoo was confused. Why would she be dressed up as a male to go to the marketplace. Wouldn’t it be okay to go there with some escorts? Why would she need to learn martial arts if her father was the great General/Warhero? Namjoo couldn’t make sense of it all.
Did the General like to lock his daughter up at home? Was she sneaking out because of that? Namjoo asked, “So why did you run away from home?” Yuna replied honestly, “I lied to you earlier. I didn’t run away from home. I was stuck in a sticky situation earlier, so I decided to go out without any escorts.” Namjoo wondered, what was this sticky situation she was stuck in?
Namjoo couldn’t help but ask, “So what’s going on? Mind telling me?” Yuna decided to trust her especially since it seemed like Namjoo didn’t have any ill intentions towards her. It didn’t seem like she would do any harm to her. Yuna didn’t feel the need to tell Namjoo about Eunho though.
The reason why she snuck out was because she thought Eunho was being unreasonable. How could he ask her to do such an impossible task, just because he didn’t approve of her being different from all her peers. She had the right to choose if she wanted to learn martial arts or not. Being a woman doesn’t change anything. She hated that Eunho was so old-fashioned. He thought that the role of a women was to be nothing but a good housewife. She couldn’t understand how such a righteous guy could think that way.
Either way, she didn’t plan on letting Eunho get his way. If she failed in accomplishing the requirements he stated, she could easily ask someone else. Maybe Namjoo could help her if she was a strong martial artist. It was obvious that Namjoo was striving to be a martial artist anyway. She planned on being on the same battlefield as her father.
Yuna wholeheartedly chose to become Namjoo’s ally. It wouldn’t hurt to have another ally on her side. Yuna responded to Namjoo’s pestering, “It’s embarrassing to say this, but I haven’t been able to learn martial arts. I have a war hero as a father, but I wasn’t trained. Most people have an advantage, because they were taught at a young age. I wasn’t fortunate enough to be like them.”
Namjoo understood why Yuna wasn’t trained. She knew very well what it was like to be a female in this society. It was looked down upon if a female were to strive to be a martial artist. These women ended up giving on their dreams when they began training. All the men that trained alongside the females either bullied them till they quit or until the females lost their lives. The sad reality made both Yuna and Namjoo sigh in unison.
Namjoo reassured Yuna, “I know it’s tough being a woman in this society. If only, things were different, I wouldn’t have to dress up as a male.” Yuna agreed, “I know, right?” It was at this very moment when Namjoo and Yuna became good allies.
Yuna was happy to find another person that believed in the same ideologies. She didn’t think that she’d come across another female that thought like her. It was hard to find females that wanted to break out of the social stigma. Namjoo was an oddball that looked forward to a better future that allowed women the rights they deserved.
If she was anything like her peers, she would’ve liked to become a perfect housewife. It was a breath of fresh air for Yuna to meet another woman that thought like her. If she could hang around people like Namjoo, she could easily change the thoughts of everyone.
She strongly believed that she could shake the nation with her different ideologies. She just needed a way to appeal to the masses slowly. Maybe Namjoo was the key to changing the world.
