Minho observed the Ezraen girl before him and only thought of one thing; make her life a living h*ll. He was discontent with the slave traders. The girl looked unharmed. Her clothes and hair still resembled nobility. None of them had listened to anything he had commanded. He wanted them to rough up the girl and make sure she knew that her life was going to become worse than a beggars. If none of them were willing, he would gladly make her regret ever being born.
He especially disliked that she was the daughter of that b*st*rd Jonathon. He despised Jonathon with a passion. He recalled the incident that made his blood burn with anger and humiliation.
Minho ordered his servants to capture every last Ezraen in the city. To him, they seemed to be similar to rats. They hid in dark corners and lived with nothing but the clothes on their backs. They were so week and easy to destroy.
He especially enjoyed looking at their twisted expressions as he shattered their sense of hope. Their hope to survive and live successfully was a hopeless dream. Minho believed that no Ezraen deserved to live a good life.
His first encounter with Jonathon Harris was one that made his blood boil. His sense of righteousness made him want to ruin his life even more. Minho had never met an Ezraen as courageous as Jonathon. He was used to seeing them cower before him. The mere fact that he was able to fight him head on and win made him despise him even more.
He had no clue how Jonathon discovered all the Ezraens that were locked up in his secret torture chamber. He freed everyone and faced Minho with bravery that unmatched anyone he had ever met. Jonathon was a strong opponent. Minho wasn’t able to rival his sword.
Luckily for Minho, his father was on his side. The emperor refused to take the side of an Ezraen envoy. He’d rather take the side of his second son. Once the emperor discovered that Minho was in danger, he sent General Junho to protect him.
Junho wasn’t aware of what was going on until he arrived at the secret torture chamber. He witnessed countless Ezraen citizens. The women and children were nothing but bones. Bruises covered their bodies to the point that he couldn’t recognize their faces. Some of their limbs were chopped off and none of them were treated properly. He noticed that some of the injuries were extremely severe, and their wounds were becoming infected.
The sight of Minho’s cruelty made him want to vomit. How could anybody torture innocent people in such a way? He had seen countless things during the war, but he never witnessed anything like this. The crimes that Minho committed were outrageous. Minho was just a kid; how could he do this? His daughter was only slightly younger than him.
Junho wanted to defy the emperor’s orders and slay Minho on the spot. No matter how much he wanted to make Minho pay for his crimes, he could not do anything about it. His wife and daughter were at risk. The emperor would consider this treason and his entire family would be executed.
In the end, Junho was only able to set the Ezraen’s free without anyone finding out. When he finally got to the torture chamber, Minho was found unconscious, and Jonathon was about to escape. Junho allowed the Ezraen citizens to escape, but he could not let Jonathon run away. He had harmed the prince and was considered an assassin.
If he let him free, that would be considered treason. Junho was much stronger than Jonathon. Junho had years of experience in the battlefield, while Jonathon was a noble that had never set foot in the battlefield. Although Jonathon was able to overpower Minho, he wasn’t as successful when fighting Junho.
Jonathon was captured and locked up. The emperor was proud of General Junho for his efforts. He was planning on giving Junho a reward but was rejected. The thought of receiving a reward for protecting a murderer was distasteful. He felt remorseful to the Ezraens for taking the side of a psychopath that could easily harm innocent citizens. No matter how much he despised Minho, he could not betray the royal family.
Minho on the other hand, could not let this slide. His anger grew once he looked in the mirror. There were cuts and bruises covering his entire body from his fight with Jonathon. He vowed to get his revenge on Jonathon. Although he was captured, he was still displeased. The only thing that would make him feel better was if Jonathon could see his wife tortured and his children live a miserable life.
He initially planned to kill off his daughter as well, but that wasn’t enough. He wanted his daughter to live a life worse than death. What could be worse than living a life as a war-slave? Minho proceeded with his plan successfully.
Once Sun was captured, he had the slave-traders bring her to him. He stared at the girl that resembled Jonathon. The fire in her eyes were exactly the same as Jonathon’s. He grabbed a portion of her hair and pulled it back with force. Sun could feel the immense pain on her scalp when he tore a bit of her hair.
His evil grinning face was just inches from hers as his snake-like voice made its way to her ears, “You look just like your father. I wonder what his expression would have been like if he saw you like this. Too bad, he died so easily.” He laughed in her ear and then slapped her across the face. Sun lay on the cold floor with tears streaming down her face.
No matter how horrible he was, she did not want to look weak. That’s what he wants. She got up and glared at him with everything she had. He grabbed her hair and said, “I want to wipe that look off your face. That was the look your father gave me. It was funny to see him change when I had his wife tortured. He was crying like a little baby. I had someone paint that expression for me. Would you like to see?”
She spat on his face with fury. He was the one responsible for all the misfortunes in her family. If he didn’t exist, her parents would still be alive. She wasn’t even able to say goodbye to any of them. Tears continued to stream down her face.
He wiped the spit off his face irritably. She was tenacious and stubborn just like her father. He struck her face and began kicking her. She curled up her body and tried to protect her ribs from being crushed in by his kicking. Her thin arms could barely block anything. She began coughing up blood and soon her entire body turned black and blue.
Minho stopped kicking once he noticed that she wasn’t moving anymore. He demanded the guards to take her out of his tent and lock her up. For the next few months, Sun was tortured by Minho in various ways. She had no food, and the cuts and bruises became scars that covered every inch of her body. She didn’t know how long she was locked up in there. Time stood still in that place. The memories became a nightmare that threatened her sleep every single night from then on.
She was finally able to see the light of day once he got bored of her. He made sure to instruct the slave-traders to sell her off to some old man that could make her life a living h*ll. She spent a few days with the man that bought her.
The man was a drunkard and he enjoyed beating her. She was lucky that he didn’t have an interest in kids. She had heard that slaves were easily raped, and they would spend days hating themselves. Most of those women would end their own lives after years of being abused. Those days of living with the old man was short. He had a gambling problem and soon lost all of his money. He didn’t have enough money for alcohol, so he sold her off to the slave-traders.
Her life began to look up when the next person that bought her was different from everyone else. Yuna treated her differently and she didn’t expect anything from her. She never expected that her life could get any better. She imagined that she would live the rest of her life as a slave. Her days as a slave came to an end when she met Yuna.
