Chapter 83 - HIBI

Yuna stared at the familiar ceiling and the beautifully draped curtains that hung down over the bed. Her eyebrows scrunched up in confusion. How is she in this room? She changed the future. It shouldn’t be possible. She quickly got out of bed and noticed the familiar furniture. The room was decorated luxuriously, and it felt like she had become empress. She dashed to the mirror to check.

She sighed in relief when she noticed that she wasn’t her 19-year-old self. She couldn’t figure out how she was in the same bedroom inside the palace. She should be in her family home. Did Minho kidnap her while she was unconscious? Yuna looked at her reflection once more. There was something different about her.

Her pale appearance was gone, and her face glowed beautifully. The dark circles under her eyes were gone and it looked like she grew a few inches. Her non-existent chest seemed to have grown as well. She wondered what could’ve happened for her to change so drastically. At that moment, she recalled what she dreamt of.

She met a phoenix in her dreams. She was fed the elixir of the phoenix and her body had changed. For some reason, the dream was blurry, and she couldn’t remember if she made a wish to the phoenix. If she made a wish, did her wish come true? If meeting the phoenix was only a dream, the wish wouldn’t have been granted.

Yuna knew she had to find a way to escape before Minho found out she was awake, but she was too focused on if the dream was real. She felt that deep inside, it wasn’t just a dream. She could already tell the differences in her body. Her vision became clear, and she could hear better than normal. She could hear people in other rooms.

Her senses came alive and everything in this world seemed different. Yuna could sense every living being almost as if she had become a goddess or some omnipotent being. There was an unusual power flowing in her veins. It seemed to be connected with the phoenix.

There was only one way to tell if her wish had come true. She called out, “Fifi, are you there?” Yuna had no clue how she knew that name, but somehow, she knew to call that name. Once she finished her sentence, a red fiery ball sprung out from within her heart and formed into the phoenix within her dreams. Fifi answered, “You called?” Yuna fell back on the bed in shock, “You’re real?”

Fifi frowned, “Yes, I’m real and why are you still scared of me? I thought we became friends.” Yuna couldn’t remember what happened afterwards, “How come I can’t remember our conversation?” Fifi shrugged, “I think it’s because we were in your subconscious so some of the conversation may be blurry. It wasn’t that important. I can fill you in on the details.”

Yuna couldn’t make sense of everything. One second, she thought that she was living in a normal world, but now she finds out that there were magical elements in this world that couldn’t be explained with science. She should’ve known that the world wasn’t as simple as she thought. She couldn’t explain anything about God and her reincarnations. There were things in this world that she couldn’t explain.

Yuna asked Fifi, “Did I make a wish?” She answered, “If you did, do you think I would still be here now? I’m stuck next to you until you do.” Fifi’s beady eyes grew large in expectation, “So, do you want to make your wish right now?” Yuna thought about it and couldn’t think of anything to wish for, “Not really…” Fifi huffed in frustration, “You should hurry up and make a wish so I can be free.”

Yuna couldn’t understand, “You can just go then. I don’t really need to make a wish.” Fifi flapped its wings angrily, “I can’t leave until you make a wish.” No matter how hard she tried, Yuna couldn’t think of anything to wish for. She wasn’t lacking in money, and she wasn’t lacking in skills either.

There wasn’t much that she wanted except getting revenge on Minho and Haemi. She also wanted the world to change. Those things weren’t something she wanted easily. She believed that her wishes should be achieved through her own hard work. A simple wish wasn’t satisfactory in her opinion. Yuna patted Fifi’s head lightly, “I don’t have a wish for you yet, but I’m sure I’ll have one later.”

Fifi sighed, “Fine, but make it quick. I don’t want to be stuck here forever. I’ve got places to be.” Yuna was curious and questioned, “Where could you possibly need to go? Aren’t you dead if I ate your heart? Is it the afterlife? Reincarnation?” Fifi groaned, “I’m not like you humans. I can’t actually die. Although you used one of my hearts for an elixir, I have thousands of hearts. You wouldn’t understand even if I explained.”

Yuna grew frustrated. No matter how complex anything was, her goal was to figure it out. She couldn’t just sit there and give up because something was too complicated. Yuna declared, “I’m going to figure out what you are, and I won’t make any wishes until I do.” Fifi shouted, “NO! You’re so cruel. It’ll take me years and years to explain. Can’t you just let me be free?”

Yuna cunningly smiled, “You won’t be able to leave until I figure you out.” Fifi wanted to burn this human to the ground. How could anyone be this cruel? She was so excited once she found out that her years of waiting was over. She never expected that this human was so stubborn, and she would keep her stuck in this boring world.

Fifi found the human world to be boring. There were no magical beings and there was nothing special about this world. Fifi wanted to go back to her world and enjoy the beautiful scenery. If only she wasn’t locked up in that elixir bottle for thousands of years. How could she have known that the bottle would be passed on to so many people and eventually end up in this cr*ppy place?
