Chapter 84 - HIBI

Yuna’s previous room was unusually far from Prince Minho’s bedroom. She never questioned him because she liked the courtyard and its surroundings. Most people in the palace avoided this place because there were rumors about it being haunted with ghosts. They assumed that the concubines that died tragic deaths were sent to this courtyard.

Their last moments were spent in this isolated place with no one around. Yuna never thought anything of it throughout the entire time she was engaged to Minho. She enjoyed the peaceful atmosphere and she especially liked that she wasn’t surrounded by dangerous people. The palace is a battlefield. Jealous concubines and high-ranking officials are constantly scheming in the palace.

If Yuna would’ve looked more deeply into things, she would’ve realized that Minho had sent her there because he didn’t truly love her. He treated her like a worthless concubine, and she was too stupid to notice it. It was a good thing that she experienced living here. She knew the entire layout and it would be a piece of cake to find her way out.

Yuna stealthily entered the hallway and looked around for any guards or maids. The hallway was empty, and everything was quiet. If Minho captured her, why wasn’t there a single person guarding her room? She continued down the hallway and was about to turn left when she heard footsteps approaching.

She overheard the maids gossiping, “It’s a good thing we were assigned to this place. I thought working in Prince Minho’s palace would be dreadful. The emperor doesn’t favor him at all. Who would’ve thought that we’d be taking care of Prince Minho’s concubine.” The other maid giggled, “The prince doesn’t care about her. We don’t do anything all day, and no one has come to check. 3 years of vacation and money’s still pouring in. We’re so lucky.”

Yuna was shocked beyond belief. It’s been 3 years since she was brought to the palace. So, she’s currently 15 years old? What’s going on? She thought that her father or Eunho would’ve saved her by now. Yuna quickly found a room and hid from the gossiping maids.

She yelled at Fifi in her mind, “WHY DIDN’T YOU TELL ME 2 YEARS HAVE GONE BY?” Fifi shouted back, “STOP YELLING AT ME! I was going to take a nice nap. I was dreaming of my freedom till you woke me up.” Yuna sighed, “What happened while I was unconscious. Why was I unconscious for 3 years?” Fifi rolled her eyes, “It’s not my fault your body is so weak. Most people would’ve woken up after a month. It took time for your body to absorb my essence.”

Yuna frowned, “Do you know what happened during the 3 years?” Fifi shrugged, “Who knows? I was stuck inside your subconscious this entire time. Even if I did know what happened, why would I tell you?” Yuna wanted to smack some sense into this stupid bird. She threatened, “If it weren’t for you, I wouldn’t have been unconscious for 3 years. I’ll make you pay!”

Fifi noticed the fire in Yuna’s eyes. Although she wanted to make Yuna angry, she knew that Yuna was the key to her freedom. She’d have to play nice for the time being. Fifi sighed, “Don’t be angry. It’s not my fault that your weak body couldn’t handle my awesomeness. Although it took a long time, you should be a hundred times stronger.”

Although she was unconscious for 3 years, at least she became stronger. It looks like she won’t be in need of Eunho’s training after all. She obtained strength and she already had some martial arts moves in her memories. She could easily fight off her enemies.

While Yuna was thinking about all the possibilities, she heard the maids walk past the room. The maid spoke, “It’s a pity that this worthless concubine became a cripple. She was born lucky. Her father’s a famous war hero and she’s still stuck marrying an unfavored prince.” The other maid mentioned, “I heard that her father opposed the emperor’s decision. How come she became a concubine? Isn’t her father powerful?”

The maid laughed, “What can a mere general do? He’s not royalty. No one can oppose the emperor. Plus, he doesn’t know where his daughter is kept.” The other maid sounded worried, “What happens if war breaks out? I heard that the general has threatened the emperor and he’s been searching the palace for 3 years. Plus, there’s also General Eunho. The two generals have been turning the palace upside down.”

The maid said, “We’ll just have to see what happens. I’m sure that no one would be able to find this place. It’s been isolated for a long time. The palace is huge. I highly doubt that anyone would find this place.” The other maid sighed in relief, “I sure hope that they don’t find her. We could continue to make tons of money without having to work.”

Yuna frowned in disgust when she heard the maids gossiping about her. There’s no way in hell she would stay here. Even maids treated her like garbage. She’d rather be homeless than live here. She wanted to beat up the maids but decided to let it go since they revealed a lot of information. She was glad that there were gossiping maids in the palace. She could easily find out stuff just by eavesdropping.

Now that she knew what happened with her father and Eunho, she was relieved. The only problem was finding out what happened with Sun. She had to find out if she was alive at all costs. Yuna couldn’t fathom losing Sun. She imagined Sun’s last expression when she died for her. Tears streamed down her cheek.

If Minho did anything to Sun, she will make him suffer a thousand times more. Death wouldn’t even cover it. She promised God that she wouldn’t live this life for revenge, but that was easier said than done. She would never be able to keep that promise if Minho did anything to harm her loved ones. Even if she lost all her abilities and she was tossed into the deepest parts of hell, she wouldn’t regret making Minho suffer.
