When I woke up this morning, I didn't expect my fake wife to be in my bedroom. Looking at the robe on the ground, she must've snuck into my bedroom last night. Ever since we got married, she's been trying to get in my bed. No matter how many times I tell her that this is a fake marriage, she won't believe me. I have never met a woman as crazy as her.
I wonder why my grandfather is forcing me to marry her. The only thing he likes is her family background. It was my mistake for thinking that she wouldn't notice I was in my room tonight. I've been sleeping at hotels to avoid her, but last night all the rooms were booked everywhere. I had no choice but to go back home for the night. One night at home won't be too bad.
I was wrong the instant I woke up the next morning. I noticed the sounds of someone laughing. I have never heard her laugh during the entire time I've been married to her. Her laughs were soft and cute. I opened my eyes and watched her smile at her reflection. She then found her phone and began reading something. Her eyebrows were scrunched while reading the message.
At this moment, I noticed her attire. She was in a nightgown, as if she slept here. I searched for clues while she was distracted with her phone. I found her robe tossed on the floor beside the bed. Its evidence that she must've done something to me while I was asleep. She must've taken the robe off and climbed into my bed while I was asleep.
I glared at her once she looked my way. I said, "Why are you here? Did you sneak into my room at night to sleep with me again? How many times do I have to tell you that this marriage isn't for love?" She jerked at the sound of my voice. She never thought that I would catch her.
I waited and expected for her to start an argument about how they are supposed to be a normal couple. I would tell her every time that we are not a real couple. The arguments never ended and I would be forced to avoid her. Her response surprised me when she looked at me nervously while scratching her neck, "My bad..." My bad? I thought she would be more demanding and start an argument with me. It always ends up in a battle when I speak to her. Why is she acting so different from normal?
Maybe this is another one of her schemes to get my attention. I continued glaring at her. She suddenly ignored my glare and grabbed her robe from the floor. She put it on over her shoulder and tied the robe tightly covering her chest. She looked away as if she was shy. She didn't want me to look at her in her nightgown? On closer inspection, I could see that she was blushing. Her face was red and her facial expression resembled a delicate little bunny. Did I just think she looked like a bunny? I must be seeing things.
I never expected her to react like this. Did something really happen last night? I concluded that nothing happened because she covered her nightgown. If something happened last night, she wouldn't have cared about me seeing her in a nightgown. The thought of us doing that thing made me angry, but picturing Seo-young's shy expression stirred something in me. She never showed me this expression before, but just now I seem to have imprinted that expression in my memory.
Seoyoung suddenly muttered, "I won't bother you anymore." She began rushing towards the door. I don't know why, but my hand shot out and grabbed the back of her robe. She was so weak, she struggled to escape and ended up being pulled back towards me. I thought she would be stronger, but she's a lot weaker than I thought.
She pouted cutely when I pulled her robe. She had tears in her eyes and she looked pitiful. I've never seen these expressions on her face. Something is different about Seoyoung today. I don't know what it is, but she isn't acting like she normally does. She choked on her tears, "I won't run away. So can you let go?"
I let go of her robe and said, "Explain to me why you're in my bedroom." She surprised me with her response, "I don't know how I got in your bedroom. I must've been drunk or something... I won't make the same mistake. I promise." I thought she would bring up something about taking responsibility and pushing for a real relationship, but it was different.
This must be one of her plots to get me to lower my guard around her. I glared at her to let her know I wasn't going to change that easily. She unexpectedly poked my forehead and unscrunched up my eyebrows. Her touch was light and oddly I didn't find her to be disgusting like I normally do. Her fingers were cold and her light touch felt good for some reason. she muttered, "Don't frown. You look better when you smile." My hearing is naturally really good. I heard her clearly. My face instantly grew red suddenly and I didn't know where to look. I didn't want her to see how that simple sentence made me lower my guard. I coughed loudly trying to hide my reaction.
She suddenly said, "I don't remember what happened last night, but I hope we can get along. I know this marriage isn't for love, but that doesn't mean we have to be miserable. It's not like I wanted to get married in the first place." I would've believed this sentence if she didn't say you look better when you smile right before saying those words.
She's acting suspicious, I could clearly see her checking me out. I'm used to that expression in most females. Don't get me wrong, I'm not a player. I just have a lot of admirers. Most women have the same expressions on their faces when they first meet me. I grew suspicious of Seoyoung's words at this moment.
I questioned her, "What are you plotting this time? I could see you plotting something from a mile away." She reacted differently than I thought, "I'm not plotting anything. I know it may seem hard to believe, but I don't want to stay married to someone that obviously doesn't have feelings for me. I don't have feelings for you in that way either."
I would've believed this sentence if this person wasn't Seoyoung. I scoffed, "I hardly doubt that you don't have feelings for me." She continued to surprise me with her unexpected responses, "I know it's hard to believe, but trust me this once. If you want me to sign the divorce papers right now, I'll do that. I just wanted to be on friendlier terms with you. We don't have to be miserable while being a fake couple."
She quoted the words 'fake couple'. I never imagined Seoyoung had so many different expressions and she used her hands to speak. I think I missed something really big. Was Seoyoung switched out for someone else? I kept rubbing my eyes to confirm if I was dreaming. Her personality and mannerisms are vastly different from the Seoyoung I met yesterday.
Regardless of if she was switched out or had an epiphany and decided to change, that doesn't change the fact that she agreed to sign the divorce papers. I was wondering how I could get her to sign the papers. I guess this is an easy win for me. I'll just let her sign the papers and file the divorce papers later.
I said, "I'll take you up on that offer then. I can be friendly with you just as long as you sign the divorce papers and never step foot into my bedroom. We can go our separate ways once we are divorced." She must be plotting something because the moment I finished that sentence there was a tad bit of disappointment in her expression.
I thought I could read her expressions like a book, but I was wrong. The next second she looked like she was happy. Was she daydreaming about her life after the divorce? Am I reading her expressions incorrectly? For some odd reason, my gut is telling me that divorce so soon wouldn't be smart. I had no clue why I was reacting like this, but my gut never fails me even at work. I decided to push the divorce till later, "We won't be able to divorce until Grandfather approves. We'll have to wait a bit until things are okay with him."
I thought she would be happy to hear that the divorce won't happen till later, but she didn't look happy at all. She just looked confused, "We can wait, but how long will that take?" Why does she sound like she wants to get divorced so soon? The idea didn't sit well with me. There must be a reason why she's acting so differently. I need to find out what she's plotting.
I decided to push the divorce date to a month from now. By that time, Grandfather won't be too upset to know that his grandson divorced. If the divorce landed on his birthday, he would be furious. I stated, "We'll probably have to wait till Grandfather's birthday banquet passes. It's in two weeks, so I think a month from now should be good."
She put her thumbs up and smiled at me, "Sounds good. One month and we can go our separate ways." She truly looked happy after saying that. I should be feeling happy about getting divorced with her, but something kept gnawing at me from inside. I don't know why I was feeling reluctant, but I didn't want to divorce her too soon. I need to find out why she changed before we divorce.
While I was lost in thought, Seoyoung suddenly stood up to leave. I stopped her, Where are you going? Didn't you say you would sign the papers?" She must be trying to escape from signing the divorce papers. Although I pushed the divorce to one month later, I still want to get her signature ahead of time.
She frowned and pointed at herself, "I will sign it, but let me change first." Her hair was messy and she had a robe on. She looked kind of cute without her makeup. I instantly wanted to slap myself for calling her cute. I changed my expression to one of disgust and waved my hand at her to go. She frowned and walked away to her room.
I quickly searched my desk drawer to find the copies of the divorce papers I prepared in advance. My plan was to give her money after the divorce, but for some reason I didn't want her to get what she wanted so easily. I wanted to see her shocked and defeated expression once noticing that she won't get anything.
I fixed some things in the divorce and reprinted them out. I stapled them and walked out of the study. I bumped into Seoyoung on my way out. She was dressed in a black dress that fit tightly against her body. She never wore anything like this. Although Seoyoung was always trying to seduce him, she never dressed like this. She always wore cute dresses with frills and outfits that made her look like a princess.
For some reason, I couldn't help but stare at her body. She is surprisingly fit and has the right curves. If she didn't have such a bad personality, she would be my type. I wanted to slap myself for even having these thoughts. I reacted quickly to not get caught admiring her new look. I changed my expression to one that was suspicious of her, "Is this another one of your schemes?"
She boldly smiled at me and said, "Does a girl need to dress to impress a man? I’m sorry to disappoint you, but I dressed up for myself. No need to be suspicious of me. I just wanted to change up my style." When she said that sentence, she looked like a queen. She noticed my expression and said, "What do you think?"
I wanted to tell her she looked beautiful, but logic won in the end. If I told her she was beautiful, she would probably have second thoughts about the divorce so I said, "Can we sign the divorce papers?" It's a good thing I corrected myself by mentioning the divorce papers. I hope she doesn't go back on her words. I hope she signs the divorce papers. I handed the divorce papers to her. She didn't seem to read anything and went straight to the back. She signed both papers and said, "Done."
I grinned in delight when I noticed that she didn't read anything. I wonder how she'll react when she finds out that she's not getting anything out of this divorce. I watched and waited but she said, "Now that I'm done signing, I can go now, right? I have to be somewhere." I agreed naturally, "Go ahead, but I want to ask you one thing before you leave."
I made sure to let her know because I wanted to see her reaction. I asked, "Why didn't you read the divorce papers? You signed right away without looking." Her next response made me feel a bit guilty, "I trust you." I felt guilty, but I didn't want to change the divorce agreement so easily. Plus, she shouldn't have trusted me in the first place. I said, "You shouldn't trust me. Here's your copy."
I handed her the copy and dashed out of the room. At first, I was curious about how she would react, but now I feel a bit guilty. I didn't want to stay in the room to see her reaction. Something has definitely changed in Seoyoung. I thought she was supposed to be clingy and manipulative. Why is she acting so differently today?
