Chapter 96 HIBI

The Ezraen boy’s face grew dark, “She was taken out of the prison cell not too long ago because of me.” Yuna asked, “What do you mean?” He didn’t want to tell her that it was his fault, but he knew more than anyone that he was at fault here. He explained, “She died while giving me her meals…” She couldn’t believe what she was hearing. Was she hearing things? She was too late? Her eyes instantly filled with tears.

She lost her footing and cried, “This can’t be happening. My sister is dead? I’m too late…” If only she had arrived a few days earlier, she could’ve saved her sister. She couldn’t even blame the poor prisoner boy. It wasn’t his fault. She stared down at her trembling hands. What had she done? Sun wasn’t supposed to die here… By not marrying Minho, she changed fate… Sun was no longer there.

Tears kept streaming down her face. She cried, “I’m sorry Sun… I’m so sorry I couldn’t save you. I was too late.” She beat her own chest in anger and sadness. “It’s all my fault. I should have been there sooner.” The boy felt his eyes wet with tears. It was all his fault. His sister came to save her, but because of him, she died. The boy felt guilty for letting her die that way. He ran away from the girl that was mourning her sister’s death. He couldn’t stand to be there any longer. She died because of him…

Yuna gave up trying to get up. She sat there on the floor crying her heart out. She didn’t care if anyone caught her there. She just wanted to cry. Sun was the only person that was there for her in the past life. She vowed to protect the people she cared about, but she couldn’t even do that. Why was she so weak? Nothing has changed! She got another chance to redo her life and yet she couldn’t change anything. She just made it worse.

Princess Ara tried to pull Yuna up, but it seemed that she had lost all strength in her legs. She sensed her sadness and bitterness. It really hurt watching her mourning the loss of her sister. She gave up trying to help Yuna on her feet. She knelt down and hugged her instead. She didn’t feel the need to say anything. She just hugged her.

Jimin and Eunho went out searching for Yuna a while back. They split up and began searching different areas of the palace. Eunho was careful not to get caught while searching. He leapt over buildings with ease. He froze when he heard someone crying. He instantly knew who was crying. It was Yuna. He knew just by her voice that it was her. He quickly rushed towards her. He found her crying into Princess Ara’s embrace. Each time Yuna would cry out, it felt like there were a thousand needles stabbing his heart.

Even in the moonlight, he could still see her clearly. During the 3 years that he hadn’t seen her, she had grown into a beautiful woman. Her eyes sparkled just the same. It was heart wrenching seeing the beauty cry. He didn’t know why she was crying, but he wanted to kill the person that was responsible.

Eunho leapt off the building nearest to them and rushed to them. He frantically tried to grab Yuna. Princess Ara looked up and noticed General Eunho standing there. She had never met General Eunho and didn’t know that he was on their side. She assumed he was a guard and frantically grabbed Yuna’s hand and tried to dash, but the General was one step too quick. He blocked their way and said, “It’s okay. I’m on your side. Her father and I have been searching for Yuna for a long time now.”

Ara sighed in relief, “You scared me for a second. It’s a good thing that you’ve found her.” Eunho watched Yuna crying without stopping. He didn’t expect their reunion to be like this. She didn’t even notice him in front of her. She was too distraught to notice anything around her. He embraced her and kept patting her back.

Yuna didn’t stop crying for a very long time. Princess Ara whispered, “We should head back now. It wouldn’t be good to be caught here so soon. I can explain to you what happened once we’re in a safe location. We can go to my palace. It’ll be safe there.” Yuna didn’t respond to their chatter. It was sad to see her so broken and distraught. Eunho offered, “I’ll carry her.” Princess Ara helped Yuna get on Eunho’s back. Eunho felt her tears on his back. His heart hurt watching her cry like that.

Once they got to Princess Ara’s residence, Eunho put Yuna down on the bed. He tucked her in and went out to hear Princess Ara’s explanation. Ara explained, “We were looking for her sister, Sun. We just found out that she is no longer with us.” Eunho frowned when he heard Princess Ara’s response, “The thing is… Sun isn’t dead.” Princess Ara was shocked, “What do you mean?” He felt guilty for not recognizing it sooner. They were in front of the prison, why didn’t he think of it? Yuna was crying because she thought Sun was dead.

Yuna overheard them talking through the thin walls. She exclaimed in shock, “She’s alive!” Eunho scratched the back of his neck feeling guilty, “It was actually our plan. I have guards stationed inside the palace as guards and servants. They have been spying for me for a while. We discovered Sun’s whereabouts a long time ago.” Yuna didn’t know what had happened during the 3 years she was unconscious.

She was overjoyed that Sun was alive, but at the same time embarrassed. She caused a scene and acted a bit crazy while mourning the loss of Sun. She still needed to find out what had happened. She opened the sliding door and walked outside of the room. She sheepishly said, “I overheard your conversation. Mind explaining to me what exactly happened?” Eunho was relieved to see that Yuna was okay. He felt guilty about not telling her sooner, “I’m sorry I didn’t tell you this sooner. I didn’t realize that was the reason why you were crying.”

Yuna felt embarrassed for jumping to conclusions. It was a bit difficult to control her emotions when it involved Sun. She loved her very much and wouldn’t be able to do anything without her. Sun was her support and the only person she truly trusted. She reassured him, “It’s okay. I’m glad that she’s doing fine. I just need to know more about what exactly happened while I was missing.”

Eunho explained, “We found Sun being tortured by Prince Minho shortly after her disappearance 3 years ago. We were able to get her out from under Prince Minho’s watchful eye. It wasn’t very difficult. Minho doesn’t have a lot of guards stationed at his residence. I’m sure you already know this.”

Yuna knew clearly how her ex-husband struggled to get people on his side. Although he was known as the handsome and intelligent prince by the nobles, he was also known as the cruel and cold prince by the guards and servants. The nobles chose to believe that his cold personality was also a part of his charm. They didn’t realize his true nature was worse than that. So in short, no one wanted to work for him. They were afraid of losing their lives and they didn’t like being treated horribly. The only option Prince Minho had was to buy slaves because no one wanted to work for him. Thus, Minho didn’t truly have allies until he gained power from becoming Yuna’s husband.

Ara said, “I can see how you were able to save Sun, but how did she end up in prison?” Eunho continued his explanation, “Once we saved Sun, she had to spend years healing from the damage done by Prince Minho. It was a good thing that Sun is a genius. She found ways to heal her wounds. We also made a lot of discoveries during this time. We discovered that someone had poisoned Yuna.”

Yuna was shocked. She was poisoned? By whom? Eunho explained, “We were lucky to have found the vial of Yuna’s blood underneath the bed. We made sure to preserve it during the time that Sun was being tortured.” Knowing Sun, Yuna knew exactly what happened next. Sun probably neglected her injuries to research and find out what had caused her to faint. She just didn’t know who would want to poison her.

Eunho continued explaining everything, “Sun did research and discovered what Yuna was poisoned with. I don’t exactly know the details of how the poison was made, but I know what the symptoms are. Apparently, the poison causes the person to grow weak and their constitution always remains poor. So that might be why martial arts is difficult for you. Sun explained to me that the poison had a different effect on you because you were poisoned since you were an infant. It has caused your growth to stunt.”

Eunho was surprised to find out that Yuna had grown into a beautiful woman over the years. He was curious as to what had happened to her over the years. She looked healthier. He said, “I know I have a lot of explaining to do, but I’d also like to hear what happened to you over the years. Where were you during these 3 years? Your parents are extremely worried about you. We have been searching for you for years.” Yuna wanted to explain her situation to him truthfully, but she had no clue how she was going to explain to him that the elixir he gave her was the cause. She didn’t want him to feel guilty about that. Yuna sighed, “I’ll tell you everything, but let me hear your side of the story first.”
